Citizen
This coin was struck in 90 B.C. to commemorate the passing of a law which gave Roman citizens, accused of crimes in the provinces, the right of appealing for a trial in Rome.. On the reverse are the figures of a citizen (left), a provincial magistrate, and a lictor bearing the fasces - beneath is the word `provoco` (I appeal): The law enabled Paul nearly 150 years later to insist on a trial in Caesar`s court.
